Third Sustainability Forum – Shaping a future worth living
Poster presentation as part of the “Gallery Walk: Presentation of initiatives & projects in the field of sustainability at the University of Cologne”
On May 15, EcoLit was able to present itself with a poster at the Sustainability Forum. The team was delighted with the great interest shown by participants in the project and the lively exchange. The poster took second place in the poster competition.
Information about the event:
The rapid global environmental changes and the high complexity of the interactions between the ecological systems challenge science and society. The same applies to the gaping gap between knowledge of the devastating ecological effects of human activity and the need to change the way we act in order to stabilize habitats and livelihoods.
The third Sustainability Forum at the University of Cologne is addressing the urgent task of developing and discussing contributions from the sciences for sustainable (action) perspectives in view of the exceeding of planetary boundaries under the guiding theme “Shaping futures worth living”. Among other things, ecological, economic and social aspects will be holistically integrated.
This debate requires an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approach that links different areas of knowledge, builds bridges between theory and practice and develops new forms of cooperation with a wide range of stakeholders. The university thus assumes a central role as a place of critical discourse in the search for forward-looking development paths.
The forum offers an interdisciplinary platform on which a diverse program of lectures, panel discussions and participatory formats enables the exchange between different scientific disciplines and social actors.
The aim is to initiate in-depth reflections and critical and constructive discussions about the future of our planet and our society along the following key questions, to which science, research, teaching and learning contribute.
- What are we doing to create broad accessibility to the sustainability discourse and ensure a variety of connection options?
- How can we encourage and inspire those with whom we want to conduct research and teaching so as not to give up in the face of the overwhelming magnitude of the challenges?
